Activity

Description

Home Visitor

Visiting potential adopters to check the suitability of accommodation before animals are re-homed.

Training and guidance provided throughout.

Fostering

Assisting the animal centre by providing temporary care for animals. The types of animals fostered vary greatly but generally foster homes are needed for:

Pregnant and Nursing

Young kittens/puppies

Convalescent e.g. recuperating from illness/injury

Elderly

Animals that require assessment/training or socialisation

Suitable animals will be placed after a home visit has been carried out and all food, medication and equipment is provided.

Reception

Interesting and varied work. Volunteers need to be used to dealing with the general public, have good telephone and communication skills and be able to remain calm in sometimes difficult situations.

Cattery/Kennel Assistant

Involves feeding, cleaning and other general duties as required.

Socialiser

This involves spending some quality time with the animals, helping to socialise nervous or depressed dogs/cats, kittens/puppies etc…

Dog Walking

This are is vital for the well-being and happiness of our kennelled dogs. All walkers must attend a training session before beginning to walk the dogs.

Van Driver

Van calls can include dropping off and collecting animals from foster homes, picking up animals from the vets, collecting donated goods and much more!

Volunteer van drivers must have a full, clean driving licence.

Fundraiser

There are many ways to support the fundraising team. Help is needed with the setting up and running of stalls at fundraising events, taking and collecting equipment, erecting tents and marquees and giving or collecting tom bola prizes or bric-a-brac. We should be able to offer advice and support in any fundraising ideas you may have.

Charity Shop Assistant

Duties include sorting and pricing stock, using the till, serving customers and other general duties.

EARS

The Elderly Animal Rehoming Scheme requires volunteers to help with running the scheme, it can include things such as dog walking, shopping for dog/cat food, providing transport to and from vets, and delivering medication direct to the adopters home.
