Halifax & Huddersfield District Branch

ANIMAL CENTRE

Thank you to all our Twilight Members..... From Wilf

The Twilight Scheme has been set up to support the RSPCA Elderly Animal Rehoming Scheme (EARS) which provides a lifeline to old cats and dogs. Wilf is an example of one of those dogs. He came to the Centre via the Inspectors and is thought to have been abused in the past. Wilf had chronic ear problems which resulted in an haemotoma and emergency surgery. As you can see from the picture above he is still on the mend!

Treating conditions like this are expensive for the Branch and it is thanks to the generosity of our Twilight Scheme members that we can afford to do so prior to them being rehomed.

The majority of elderly animals require veterinary treatment before rehoming. Many need dental care, small lumps removed, arthritis tablets, blood tests etc. Plus all animals are neutered, vaccinated, given flea and worm treatment and micro-chipped.

So thank you again to all our members and if you are not a member but would like to become one then please see the schemes part of our website for further information.

Do You Have A Warm Barn, Stables or Outbuildings?
Can You Offer A Home To A Feral Cat or Cats?
If The Answer is Yes Then Please Read On
A stay in a cattery can be traumatic and stressful for a cat that has always lived outdoors. To minimise this stress we are looking for people who would be willing to provide basic care and outdoor shelter for one or more of these deserving cats.
· The cat will be blood tested for FIV/FELV (Leukemia and Aids) to ensure you do not take ill cats into your area.
· All feral cats will have the tip of their ear removed. This will show vets and trappers that the animal has already been neutered.
· The cat will receive one vaccination and flea and worm treatment.
· All feral cats will be spayed or neutered and have dissolving stitches.
· All feral cats will be micro chipped.
There will be no charge for these cats but in return you will need a barn, stable or outbuilding to secure the cat for at least three weeks or longer. The building will need to provide warm shelter and have hiding places for the cat to hide and rest.
You will need to feed the cat, provide fresh water and veterinary care if and when needed( at your own cost).
In return the cat will reward you by providing a free environmentally friendly pest control service!
